The Stash Band
Lead by one of Bluegrass’ great young genre-bending pioneers, Stash Wyslouch (Molskys Mountain Drifters, The Deadly Gentlemen), "The Stash! Band" features elements of Ralph Stanley's high lonesome sound with the riffs and energy of Black Sabbath and Megadeth. Forged in the fire of the Boston and New York City music scenes- The Stash! Band features Wyslouch on guitar, Sean Trischka on Drums, Duncan Wickel on Fiddle and Noam Wiesenberg on Bass.
The recently released eponymous album, “Stash!” (Sep 2015) features 19 original songs with daring compositions, anthemic songwriting and a unique band sound defying genres and classification. The album delivers angular riffs, harmonies and melodies alongside the band's affable and natural vocal stylings.
“The Stash! Band is a crystallized form of all the music I love fused into one dancing, laughing Frankenstein”, says Wyslouch, “Who’s to say you can’t fist-pump, headbang and croon 3-part harmony all in one song?”
Bluegrass fusing with Heavy Metal is a natural product of Wyslouch's history. Growing up on death metal, headbanging and improvisation, Wyslouch’s conversion to folk and roots music at age 18 turned his path from the beer stained mosh pits of heavy metal to the harmonies, dynamics and songwriting of summertime Bluegrass festivals and Country music.
As a recording artist and performer, Stash was introduced to the ways of the music business during his six-year tenure as guitarist and vocalist in progressive Bluegrass act The Deadly Gentlemen (lead by Greg Liszt of Crooked Still, Bruce Springsteen). His years in The Deadly Gentlemen are marked by performances at festivals such as RockyGrass, Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, MerleFest, Savannah Music Festival and opening spots for Mavis Staples, Yonder Mountain Stringband, The Infamous Stringdusters, and Railroad Earth.
Boston-based Jersey-born drummist Sean Trischka grew up on folk music, Phish and rock and roll. He brings knowledge and reverence of all good music to The Stash! Band with his soulful lead and harmony singing and drum-tight rhythmic sense. He writes songs, sings, and wears pants(thankfully). In the past few years he’s performed and/or recorded with The Deadly Gentlemen, Oteil Burbridge (The Allman Brothers Band), Darol Anger, Kate Pierson (The B-52's), Sam Bush, Victor Wooten, and Julian Lage. Yes, his father is Tony Trischka.
Duncan Wickel’s been all over the world with his fiddle and continues to break the barriers of what is possible on the instrument with his unmistakably unique sound. His percussive and vocal fiddle style electrifies the acoustic metal sounds of The Stash! Band. Duncan is also member of the up and coming roots-rock band The Rondo Rigs (formerly The Boston Boys). The Rondo Rigs recently recorded an album with Oliver Wood (of The Wood Brothers) sitting in the producer’s chair down at Zac Brown's Southern Ground Studio in Nashville, TN.
Hailing from Tel Aviv, Noam Wiesenberg is a highly sought after bassist and arranger on the New York music scene. He brings a bag full of chops and taste to The Stash! Band commanding space and time with his massive tone and groove. In addition to his performance career, he is keeping himself busy working as an arranger for various artists. His latest work includes an arrangement for the Metropole Orkest with Grammy award winning singer Lalah Hathaway, conducted by the multiple grammy award winner, arranger, and conductor Vince Mendoza. Noam is also part of a new nonet project led by luminary drummer - Ari Hoenig, which performs monthly at the famous Small’s Jazz Club in New York City.
On tour now, The Stash! Band packs a veritable punch of entertainment, humor and unbridled self-expression.
